October’s Music Therapy Sensory Session
On Saturday, October 4th, Love Learning Music hosted one of our monthly music therapy sensory sessions at the Linebaugh Public Library in Murfreesboro - thanks to the Tennessee Arts Commission! The session was filled with engaging activities designed to support children's sensory, pre-academic, and social-emotional development, all while incorporating a fun fall theme.
Our music therapist, Keely, led participants through interactive fingerplays, movement songs, instrumental play, and a musical storybook. Children enthusiastically played instruments, moved colorful scarves, and passed a pumpkin around the circle while learning pre-academic concepts like days of the week, months of the year, and counting. The session also included a musical storybook emphasizing coping strategies for shyness and anxiety, including deep breathing techniques.
We're grateful to the Tennessee Arts Commission for this opportunity to serve our community through music therapy. Our next session will be on Saturday, November 1st, at 11:00 AM at the Linebaugh Public Library in Murfreesboro. We hope to see you there!

Music Therapy Workshop
This month, Love Learning Music hosted a music therapy workshop at a community Lunch Bunch gathering for professionals and ministries serving individuals with special needs and mental health challenges.
Participants learned how music therapy addresses physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs simultaneously. When facilitated by trained therapists, these activities enhance emotional expression, strengthen communication, improve motor skills, and encourage social connections.
The workshop emphasized how the environment impacts outcomes. Simple adjustments, such as decluttered spaces, controlled lighting and sound, and sensory tools like weighted lap pads, help individuals regulate emotions and maintain focus during activities.
Attendees also learned how rhythm and improvisation can address speech delays and communication challenges. Drumming activities, for example, enhance social engagement and emotional expression while supporting sustained attention and emotional regulation. Additionally, participants explored how music therapy sessions can teach vital skills to adolescents, such as self-care, emotional expression, and healthy coping strategies through music and movement.
The workshop sparked meaningful conversations as professionals connected music therapy principles to their own work. We are deeply appreciative of the support from our community, which allows us to continue serving as a resource for our caregivers.

Important Info on the Season of Giving
As we head into the final months of 2025, we're reminded of the incredible generosity that makes Love Learning Music possible. This Season of Giving, we're reaching out with an important opportunity to double your impact for the families we serve.
We're actively seeking matching donors who can pledge an end-of-year gift that will inspire others to give. If you've been considering a larger gift to Love Learning Music, becoming a matching donor is a powerful way to multiply your impact - every dollar you pledge will encourage and match additional contributions from our community.
The demand for accessible education and therapy continues to grow, and Love Learning Music remains committed to ensuring that every person, regardless of financial circumstances, has the opportunity to experience the transformative power of education, therapy, and mentorship.
Your support directly funds:
Scholarships that fund music therapy sessions and music lessons for children on our waitlist
Qualified instructors who equip, educate, and encourage young musicians
Instrument access for students who couldn't otherwise afford them
In the coming month, we'll be connecting with our supporters to discuss year-end giving opportunities. Whether you're interested in becoming a matching donor, making a one-time gift, or setting up a recurring donation, every contribution makes a meaningful difference in someone’s life.
With your help, we can say yes to every person who's ready to learn - no wait lists, no students turned away, just music therapy and education when they need it most.
