Let the Freedom of Music Be Heard!

Timur, one of our new students, has been impacted by the war in Ukraine. He has been so emotional over his new keyboard and the chance to get lessons with one of our volunteer teachers. He is blowing us away with his passion and piano playing skills. Learn more about Timur and his story by reading below!

Summer Programs

Love Learning Music has impacted over 250 kids through our June summer programs! We are so thankful to our partners, whose support made it possible to provide music education and therapy to children in need. This June, Love Learning Music provided music education classes at Hermitage Elementary School, The Martha O’Bryan Center, and East Nashville Hope Exchange. The students explored diverse music genres, enhanced their literacy skills with sing-along books, and even created choreography using body percussion techniques. Additionally, Love Learning Music returned to Special Kids’ Camp Ability, providing group music therapy sessions for children and adults with disabilities. Participants were able to sing about their strengths, express themselves through movement, and more.

The Gift of Music

Love Learning Music was approached by the Nashville International Center for Empowerment to provide a keyboard and piano lessons to Timur, a young refugee from Ukraine. Timur is passionate about music, especially playing the piano and pipe organ, and has performed at concerts in Ukraine and Germany. Unfortunately, his keyboard was damaged during his move to Nashville. Thankfully, through our partnership with Instruments of Joy, we were able to donate a new keyboard to Timur so he could continue playing at home.
We connected Timur with Jack, a volunteer and student at Belmont University, who generously offered to teach him piano. After just one lesson, Timur's mother expressed her gratitude, saying, “I want to thank you again for your help and organizing music lessons for Timur. When the lesson ended yesterday, Timur had a lot of emotions, he really liked the teacher and the lesson! Emotions and conversations about music did not end until Timur went to bed.” Timur is now learning new techniques, scales, and exploring pieces by composers like J.S. Bach and Claude Debussy. Love Learning Music is excited to support Timur on his musical journey, forming strong bonds with him and his family and nurturing his love for music through ongoing lessons with Jack.
