Art’s of August Benefit Festival

On Saturday, August 23, Matthew Johnston and his band, Blue Willow, hosted a fundraiser event for Love Learning Music at the Historic Grove Theater in Oak Ridge, TN. The festival showcased 11 local bands, as well as local art, photography, and vendors. One of our volunteers hosted a table to showcase Love Learning Music and share about our impact. The evening was filled with incredible music spanning multiple genres, while local artists and vendors displayed their work throughout the venue. At the Love Learning Music table, our volunteer connected with attendees, sharing stories about how our programs transform lives through music education and therapy, with some attendees expressing interest in getting involved through volunteering or donations. Blue Willow's generous decision to dedicate their event to supporting music education and therapy speaks volumes about the power of community connection, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Matthew Johnston & Blue Willow, all participating bands, artists, vendors, the Historic Grove Theater, and everyone who attended this memorable event.

Free Music Therapy Opportunities

Love Learning Music is excited to begin a new season of free music therapy, thanks to the support of the Tennessee Arts Commission! Through June 15, 2026, the Tennessee Arts Commission Arts Build Communities grant is funding monthly group music therapy Sensory Sessions at the Linebaugh Public Library in Murfreesboro, TN - beginning Saturday, September 6! The sensory sessions are free and open to children of all ages, focusing on music activities designed for children with sensory needs. The Tennessee Arts Commission is also funding our Music Therapy for the Community program through their Arts for All grant, allowing for free group or 1-on-1 music therapy sessions! Again, these programs are funded through June 15 of next year, so please get in touch with our program director, Kaitlyn Williams, if you are interested or have any questions. Her email address is [email protected]. Or, please get in touch with us on our website at www.lovelearningmusic.org/contact. Thank you!

Community Support A Child

Update from our Founder/CEO

Hey Everyone!

I am excited to share that our Community Support a Child program is finally in full swing, and I need your help!  The only way to make a life-changing difference for all of the children and families we serve is to combine multiple streams of revenue so there is enough funding to cover the costs of therapists, teachers, resources, insurance, software, program admin, and all the things required to provide high-quality programs.  Our Program Director, Kaitlyn, and I are working on grants and fundraising every day, balancing the work of managing our many programs and supporting our amazing team.  The Community Support a Child sponsorship initiative allows us to effectively impact the children on our waitlist so they can receive consistent therapy and mentorship every week.

Here’s how you can help!  Think of someone you know who operates in a position of authority at a business.  We need owners and decision makers to hear about the opportunity to directly support a child in need. They can commit their businesses’ marketing or philanthropy dollars to make a big difference for the children and families we serve. Now, I fully understand how nerve-racking it can be to offer a contact that you have to someone like me, knowing that I am going to call them and set up a 15-minute meeting to ask for a donation.  So, you have my word that every contact you share will experience the same character that you know me to possess:  Respect, kindness, and care. Also, in my 13 years of starting and growing Love Learning Music, I have learned that when I meet with people to share about the impact our non-profit is having and to ask for a donation, it’s a blessing for people to hear the stories of our impact.  Whether folks decide to donate or not, it’s always positive and uplifting to hear about the life-changing work we are doing and the extent at which our impact is increasing.  We all need to hear good news these days.  Contact me directly at [email protected] to let me know who you are thinking about or fill out this quick and easy form.  I made a Google form to collect contact information for this initiative so it’s safe, secure, and easy for everyone.

Thanks for your heart to help. It takes a unified community effort to have a positive impact on the development of our children.  Thank you for believing in our cause and supporting us in all the ways that you do!

Thank You,

John Bosworth
